History of the "New" Darby Library

The building of the new library has been a challenging and rewarding project for the Board and Darby Community. We are so grateful to everyone who had a part in making this vision a reality. It is a remarkable achievement to construct a $900,000 new debt free facility. This is tribute to the community that got behind this project and supported it in so many ways. The board initiated the dream of a modern, state of the art, new facility four years ago and pursued its vision without looking backwards, but always forward to its completion. This was completed by forming partnerships with community organizations such as the US Forest Service, the Darby Town Council, the Ravalli County Commissioners, LVA Bitterroot, Trapper Peak Job Corps, Bitterroot RC&D, Darby School District, the Friends of the Darby Library, the Montana Economic Development Corporation, and the Darby Community.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed in so many ways; to those who gave of their time and talents, to those who gave monetary support, from the girls who donated part of their profit from their lemonade stand, to our major donor who issued a $250,000 challenge grant, to those who gave support by your words and your actions, to our partners. It couldn't have been done without you. Your generous outpouring of encouragement and support forever enriches the Darby Community.

THANK YOU!
