There are many ways to support the Darby Community Library, from donating to the Library Fund or volunteering your time to contributing books in good condition. Every donation and effort helps keep the library a thriving resource for the community.

Donate to the Darby Library Fund
The Darby Library Fund is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization. Your donation to the library is greatly appreciated. Proceeds go toward projects, new books and other media, and other programs determined by the Darby Library board and director. Online giving available soon.
Montana Community Foundation:
- The MCF holds the endowment for DCPL. The interest on the endowment is used to enrich library programs and materials. The principal endowment remains untouched for DCPL in perpetuity.
- On the MCF page, click on the “I want to support” box and scroll down to Friends of the Darby Library Endowment” to fill out the form.
Volunteer / Book Donations
Darby Community Public Library is a great place to volunteer, especially if you love books and people! Library volunteers primarily assist at the front desk, greeting patrons, checking out books, shelving books, and assisting the staff with other duties. Training will be provided prior to starting any volunteer work. Stop by the front desk to complete an application form. Library volunteer slots are 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. The Saturday shift is for 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. You can sign up on the on-line volunteer site for whatever shifts work for you! It can be weekly, monthly, or just when you’re in town! Contact staff to start the process.
Book Donations:
- We only accept items in good condition.
- We cannot accept:
- Textbooks or magazines
- Encyclopedias
- Books with cracked or broken spines
- Readers’ Digest condensed books
- Computer/medical manuals
- VHS/cassette tapes/LPs/records
- Dirty/water damaged/musty/moldy items
Items not added to the library shelves will be given to the Darby Library Bookstore.
We can provide you with a receipt but will not assign a monetary value to gifts; your tax-preparer should assist with that task.
