The Darby Community Library is a place for all ages to learn, connect, and explore. From children’s activities and adult programs to community groups and a volunteer-run bookstore, there’s always something happening!

Children

We love welcoming children (with parents in tow of course!) at the library. The following are activities and spaces created with your child in mind:

  • The weekly Preschool Storytime/Circle Time combines songs, stories, felt board activities, and crafts for your preschooler
  • Homeschool Meet-up (Returning soon, ask at the front desk)
  • The newly renovated children’s Discovery Room is a great place to hang out on a chilly day in Montana! The outdoors-themed room features a ranger station (aka as a toy kitchen), activity wall, cozy reading nooks, not to mention a large collection of great children’s books from A to Z.
  • Take-home craft kits, free of charge, are available upon request at the front desk.
  • Summer Reading program – Kids are encouraged to log their reading and enter for a great variety of prizes. Each week throughout the summer (Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.) there are activities and crafts based on a new theme each year.

Bookstore

The volunteer-run bookstore is a satellite of the DCPL and serves to generate funds for the library. Browse the shelves for your next great read and donate what you are able. Proceeds go directly to the library fund for additional books.

Book and DVD donations are accepted at the library. The library staff then determines which books will be directed to the bookstore.

Volunteers staff the bookstore. If you are interested in servicing, email Juli Winthers.
